I was going to fertilize my tea fields today, but with this weather, I gave up and switched to desk work instead. It’s actually not so bad to have a day like this once in a while.#rainy-day #skyteahouse #yame

Around this time of year, red spider lilies bloom in abundance, lining the terraced rice fields near my home.

Thank you so much to all my friends around the world for your kind messages of concern.

Because many news outlets are reporting this as the “Kumamoto earthquake,” it may give the impression that the entire Kumamoto Prefecture—or even all of Kyushu—has been severely affected. As a result, some travelers are canceling their trips to Kumamoto and other parts of Kyushu.

However, there is no need to avoid traveling to areas that have not been affected by the earthquake. In fact, if your destination is safe, please come and support the local communities. We look forward to welcoming you.

Thank you so much for all the messages checking on us after the earthquakes.

My thoughts are with everyone affected in southern Kumamoto.

Here in Yame, there has been no major damage, and life continues as usual.

The sunset was as beautiful as ever this evening.
