🌿 Organic Mountain Tea from Japan
Grown Deep in the mountains of Yame, Fukuoka
Welcome to Sky Tea House’s tea page.
We offer naturally grown Japanese tea from deep in the mountains of Yame — a place far from the hustle of the modern world.
Our tea is:
-
🌱 Grown with organic fertilizer
-
🐞 Pesticide-free — we do not use any chemical sprays
-
🌄 Cultivated in an uncovered field(no kabuse), allowing the tea to develop a nostalgic, old-style flavor
-
🌿 Fukamushi (deep-steamed) for a rich, mellow taste
🛠 A Tea Grown by Hand, with Heart
These tea fields were once abandoned. As a newcomer to the village, I, Jiro Sakamoto, was entrusted with this land.
Together with friends, travelers, and volunteers who visited Sky Tea House, we cleared and cultivated the field by hand.
The tea we produce is small in quantity, but full of stories and spirit.
As a very small-scale tea producer, we are not certified under the JAS organic program.
Obtaining official certification at our production scale (approximately 100 kg per year) would require raising the price by around ¥200 per bag, which is not practical at this time.
For this reason, we have no plans to pursue certification, though our tea is grown with organic fertilizer and without the use of pesticides.

Walked across Japan from Hokkaido to Yame for 4 month on the road, selling tea along the way
-
Presented this tea to José Mujica, the former president of Uruguay — often called the world’s humblest leader
